Duty - and being properly informed

For those looking for the definitive pamphlet or booklet describing the responsibilities and duties of Catholics (and dare i say, any person who cares about protecting innocent human life), there are a few that will answer any questions and fully explain the role of the Catholic voter. Catholics in the Public Square, written by the Most Reverend Thomas J. Olmsted, Bishop of Phoenix, and published by Basilica Press is part of the Shepherd’s Voice Series. I understand that they are preparing a second edition.  In addition to this booklet, Catholic Answers has published A Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics along with bulletin inserts for parish distribution.

Our duty as Knights is to promote the truth. As we begin to examine the candidates, do not allow anyone to distort the truth. Simply put - it is morally wrong to support a candidate who supports abortion on demand, who is opposed to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and who will not work in any way to change the laws that have allowed the killing of over 35 million babies since 1973. When apologists for the Democratic nominee try to avoid the truth about his extreme pro-abortion position, be clear and concise. Pro-abortion candidates will not get our vote.

This issue is not a liberal or a conservative issue. This is a human rights issue.  Over the 4th of July weekend, I watched the movie, “The Patriot” with my boys. We discussed the crucial role that the family must play in the protection of our liberties and freedoms. There is a price for vigilance. To ignore what must be done is to set ourselves on the path ot destruction. During this summer stay informed, get involved and most important of all pray. Pray. Pray for God’s mercy and love. Pray that He will forgive us for the sins of this land. Pray for our own salvation. start with a new sense of purpose. Remember that each one of us has his duty.
